How to change the average cost of an item

Cause:

The average cost field cannot be manually edited, even when the quantity on hand field is zero.

The average cost field can only be changed through posted transactions.

Solution:

• Enter an inventory adjustment to bring the quantity on hand to zero and post the adjustment.
• Then, enter a new adjustment to bring the item to the proper quantity at the proper cost.

Average Cost for the location will show for the cost entered when the last adjustment was made.

The Last Cost field must be manually updated. An adjustment will not update this field.
