Summary:

Error: Item cannot be deleted due to the following errors:

Item has unposted physical count transactions
Item has unposted receivings
Item has unposted point of sale documents
Item has open purchase orders
Item has non-zero G/L Value
Item has open transfers

Cause:

Items cannot be deleted unless all quantities are zero for all locations and transactions.  An item cannot be in use when deleted.

Solution:

  • Tickets, Holds, Orders, Layaways or Quotes can also prevent an item from being deleted, when the item is a line item on one of these documents.  Run the Committed Inventory report from Inventory/ Reports to see which documents the item to be deleted is assigned.  The document can then be edited, canceled or posted to free the item of its commitments.
  • Adjust the item’s quantity to zero for all locations and then attempt to delete.
  • Run the Inventory / Transfers / Transfer Out / Edit List for the item in question, but for all dates.  The document can then be edited, canceled, posted or whatever activity needs to be done to remove the item from the active transfer-out document.
  • Run the Inventory / Transfers / Transfer In / Edit List for the item in question, but for all dates. The document can then be edited, canceled, posted or whatever activity needs to be done to remove the item from the active transfer-in document.
  • Adjust the item’s quantity to zero for all locations
