By default, users can start more than one instance of Counterpoint on a workstation. In this Service Pack (8.4.6), you can configure each workstation (or each terminal server in a Windows Terminal Services environment) to prevent users from starting multiple instances of Counterpoint by following these steps:

  1. From a workstation (or your terminal server), select Run from the Windows Start menu, type regedit, and then click OK to start the Registry Editor.

  2. If you are using a 32-bit workstation, locate and click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synchronics\Counterpoint\8.0\Options

If you are using a 64-bit workstation, locate and click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Synchronics\Counterpoint\8.0\Options

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

Type AllowMultipleAppInstances, and then press Enter to name the new key value.

On the Edit menu, click Modify to display the Edit DWORD Value dialog.

4. Type 0 to restrict the workstation to a single instance of Counterpoint, and then click OK.

Quit the Registry Editor, and then restart the workstation.

  • Repeat these steps for each of your Counterpoint workstations that you want to restrict to a single instance of Counterpoint.
