Summary:
Customer has non-inventory and service items that have a COS%. Changing the COS% in the inventory record does not update the item record’s COS%. The item record cost fields are protected so no changes are allowed. How can the COS% be changed or modified?
Solution:
This is correct behavior by current design. Changes made to item-level costs were never intended to ripple downward to inventory data.
The item-level last-cost and COS% columns were added specifically to let users fill in default values for newly added inventory records.
Per specs
CounterPoint SQL does not track the average cost of miscellaneous (i.e., Non-Inventory, Service, and Discount) items. Therefore, you should specify an appropriate Default cost or a COS% value for such items based on your accounting practices.
The Default cost and COS% fields are useful for new items only. Changing these values for existing items has no effect on existing inventory records or vendor item records. If the issue is creating zero-cost items, it is possible to set the Default cost field to Required in the data dictionary.
The behavior here is that once the IM_ITEM.LST_COST and IM_ITEM.Dflt_Cost_of_sls_pct are set, they will no longer be editable. All adjustments to these two values must be made at the Inventory-record level.
