Solution:

The quantity available is stored in the inventory table for each location.
The following steps will only work in Point of Sale, since while in Ticket Entry a default location is set.

• In Setup/ System/ Workgroups on the Identification tab change the Item Lookup Shows setting to Item and Inventory Data.

The other available settings for the Item Lookup Shows setting are:

• • The Item data setting does not allow quantity information to be displayed on an Item Lookup.
  • The Item and inventory data setting displays the Qty available on an Item LookUp.
  • The Item data with inventory totals setting displays the Item qty available on an Item LookUp.
  • The Both setting displays both the Qty available and the Item qty available on an Item LookUp.
